Prevention Strategies, LLC is an official affiliate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. David L. Wyrick, PhD spun the company out of the university in March 2006 with the help of his research partners, Melodie Fearnow-Kenney, PhD and Cheryl Haworth Wyrick, PhD. Drs. Fearnow-Kenney and Haworth Wyrick became full-time employees as Vice Presidents of Prevention Strategies while Dr. Wyrick began serving as President of Prevention Strategies while maintaining his full-time employment with UNCG as an Associate Professor of Public Health Education.

The initial goal was simple – to maintain an unrelenting focus on community-engaged scholarship by translating science into practical tools and programs to improve the overall health and wellness of adolescents and young adults. The team has maintained that focus as Prevention Strategies continues to offer evidence-based approaches that make improve the lives of individuals and communities.
